Glasgow, 17 January 2019 – Enterprise-native UK IT consultancy and services business ECS today announced that it has appointed Mark Farrington, former HPE Pointnext UKI Vice President and General Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as Managing Director of their Enterprise Cloud business. Mark’s appointment comes as the firm sets its sights on revenues of £125m this year, following a stellar 2018 when revenues reached £100m and the workforce grew from 850 to 1,000.
Based out of the London office, Mark will lead ECS’s Cloud business helping FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 firms, primarily in highly regulated industries, with complex transformation programmes. As well as cloud enablement, Mark will spearhead ECS’s AWS Connect contact centre transformation business, which is growing fast and builds on the firm’s ground-breaking work with large enterprise clients.
The UK’s largest independent IT consultancy, ECS fills the sweet spot between the industry behemoths and the niche cloud-native players that lack enterprise experience. ECS provides a full complement of high-value IT services across enterprise cloud, digital transformation and cybersecurity.
“ECS is recognised by many in the UK retail banking sector as the go-to company for complex transformation programmes. With a large team focused on helping customers move their core business to the cloud, and our work on possibly the most advanced deployment of Amazon Connect in the world, I see myriad growth opportunities to help large organisations transform their IT,” said Mark Farrington, ECS Managing Director.
“Mark is a great fit for our business with an impeccable background in IT transformation, particularly hybrid cloud deployments. Mark will hit the ground running as new clients look to take advantage of our holistic approach to complex transformations that recognises that the real challenge isn’t technology, but rather the pragmatic orchestration of new skills, new processes and new technologies,” said ECS Chief Executive Paul Thomson.
Mark brings more than 25 years of experience in IT services including leading the HPE UKI Pointnext service business with responsibility for customers’ journey to hybrid IT environments and helping accelerate their business transformation. Prior to HPE, Mark was Global Business Development Director of Metering Services at Siemens Energy. He also spent time at Northgate Information Solutions and Siemens Business Services.
ECS, the UK’s largest independent IT services firm, is a trusted partner for many FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 firms. For almost ten years the 1,000-strong company has been helping clients in highly regulated industries, particularly financial services, to transform their business using IT. With experts in cloud adoption, digital transformation and security, the firm is well placed to help highly regulated businesses move to the public cloud seamlessly and successfully.
