New opportunity for a Junior Developer to join our company in Central Edinburgh.
ECS Security is a fast-moving and the largest privately-owned Cybersecurity consultancy in the UK a recognised leader in our field.
The Python Developer will work as part of our Cybersecurity Innovation team. This team is dedicated to developing creative technology solutions within cybersecurity, plugging together leading platforms (Splunk, ServiceNow, Tachyon Endpoint, DLP) to integrate and automate security tasks.
In this role, you won’t actually be creating software and writing thousands of lines of code. Instead, the focus is on using your python skills to develop ways of knitting technologies together, using API calls, in order to solve complex problems for our clients. Therefore, critical thinking in terms of how to solve a set of complex problems is key.
Initially, your focus will be on training. Some technology already has a mature training programme, other newer technologies have less well-defined training programmes, and we sometimes have to figure it out ourselves – but that’s part of the fun of working in cutting-edge IT Security.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Understand several scripting languages, API’s and toolkits
- Understanding and experience of the software development lifecycle and code repositories such as git, including branching and merging flows
- An understanding of how to write maintainable code and the importance of testing
- Experience writing unit tests
The world of cybersecurity is constantly adapting and growing as new technologies present themselves. This ever-changing industry has to think on its feet as new threats emerge so that data can remain safe and people feel secure and protected. Our Innovation team is entirely dedicated to tackle these emerging technologies and to drive novelty and creativity within cybersecurity. By coming on board, you’ll be part of this exciting team, responsible for the ongoing support of a business that is currently employing 300 people across the UK and growing quickly.
